Rus Saunders
Confirmed by a D.N.A. test, it is now entirely likely that Rus is, in fact, not Zach Galifinakis.
Rus moved to Louisville in march of 2009, and Immediately began work with a well known Louisville bike shop until parting ways in 2022. In 2013 Rus made the decision to to put an effort into combining the skills he picked up between time as a working apprentice in metal fabrication at the world famous Adam’s Chop Shop, years as a graphic designer, time as a machinist, and the ongoing life sentence of working behind a wrench at your favorite bike shop, to experiment with building custom bicycle frames. Almost a year later Rus got all the silly little ducks in a row, completed his first frame, and Sleep Cycles was born. Rus proceeded to spend the next eight years building one off custom frames for rad people all over the world, before making the decision to try and expand operations.
In November of 2022 Rus took on a framebuilding apprentice to try to spread his collected knowledge to someone with the same obvious passion for all things bicycle related, James Graham. After some months of working with James it became clear that a great team was blossoming. In may of 2023 Run and James learned that the barber shop that sits in front of the Sleepcycles shop was moving their business a few blocks up Oak Street. At that moment it became strikingly obvious that it was time for old Louisville to finally have a bicycle repair shop of its own. Though Sleepcycles has taken a temporary back seat to Shifty Business, things are starting to find their balance and production is slowly starting to get back underway.
With a serious love and intrigue for the history and innovation of the bicycle, Rus takes great pride in tuning everything from your old beach cruiser to the cross bike you are going to win ovcx on this year. Whether you want to replace that whacky rear triangle on the bike that has been hanging on the wall for the last decade after that accident you had, or just need a simple flat fix on the bike that’s gotten you to work for the past five years, Shifty Business Cycleworks is the shop for you!
